Hello! My name is Michael Teoli. I have a Master’s degree in philosophy, and I am planning to begin a PhD in philosophy in a few months. I work as a writing tutor for Holy Apostles College, and I am the founder of the Edmund Husserl Society, an organization dedicated to the explanation and promotion of the philosophy of Edmund Husserl.
Edmund Husserl is often viewed as merely a preliminary to other 20th century philosophers such as Martin Heidegger and Jean-Paul Sartre, and many consider Husserl’s philosophy to be largely superseded by those of subsequent thinkers. However, nothing could be further from the truth. Not only is it impossible to understand Continental Philosophy without understanding Husserl, but his philosophy also stands on its own: it has a depth and comprehensiveness that rivals any of the great philosophies throughout history. Further, in this age of skepticism, relativism, and irrationalism, Husserl offers ideas which are not only fascinating but also eminently relevant.
